Subaru Legacy PZEV turns in a nice ride and good mileage
Steering is sporty and heavy with a definite European influence. Body movements are relatively flat and very predictable driven hard, and above-average levels of responsiveness are apparent compared to some of the more sterile competitors. Topping it all off, the Legacy's standard AWD means it's entertaining and eager in any weather, too.

CVT+Boxer-four
The 170 horsepower engine is adequate, though Legacy's available six-cylinder or turbo-four units will be more sought after by driving enthusiasts. Ditto the six-speed manual gearbox available on most models.

Legacy's new focus, as an entire package, is to help move the Subaru brand onto the mental radar of more and more shoppers.

The Continually Variable Transmission (CVT) is integral to maintaining the heavier Legacy's performance levels while reducing fuel consumption (standard on PZEV), though power delivery during spirited driving does nothing for sport-sedan feel. Ultimately though, most drivers will experience impressive mileage and delightfully smooth power delivery on even the hilliest terrain.

End of the day, the 2010 Legacy PZEV is a must-drive for shoppers looking for environmentally sensitive operation, confident year-round performance and a sporty, premium driving experience.
