Devilishly cute
Okay, the City Golf isn’t a subcompact as such, but it’s priced to compete with them. More rivals are on the way, which won’t make the Yaris’ life any easier: Mazda2, Mitsubishi Colt and VW Polo.

There is nothing wrong with the Yaris, besides a shortage of trunk space. It’s not the most fun to drive, the most spacious or the most powerful subcompact on the market, but it nonetheless does its job without fuss. And in RS trim, it looks devilishly cute. The Yaris may not be our favourite, but we don’t wonder why it’s the best-selling subcompact.
