This is It
I expected such ridiculous numbers to translate into poor fuel economy, but lo and behold, my tester averaged 9.8 L/100 km. Oil companies must be fuming as they read this! The improved efficiency can be credited in part to direct fuel injection as well as the eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. The latter also ensures incredibly smooth shifts and reduces background noise at high speeds.

The steering is razor-sharp and, amazingly, engineers managed to crank handling performance up a few notches. Driving dynamics and ride quality both prove beyond reproach.

Wrap-up
The new 2011 BMW 5-Series really, really impressed me. Here’s something you will rarely see me write: even at $73,300, this car is worth every single penny based on quality and driving enjoyment. I didn’t think it was possible, but BMW seems to have created an automobile that I can’t find fault with!
