Hits the mark!
Thing is, this efficient mill just plain lacks the snap to fire the Regal’s taut chassis out of corners with any sort of urgency. Nothing fancy to listen to, either, and the transmission’s relatively lazy manual mode isn’t quite responsive enough to warrant regular use.

For performance enthusiasts, a 220-horsepower turbo four-cylinder engine is available now, and there’s a six-speed manual coming, too.

Those prioritizing fuel efficiency over all-out performance and looking for an upscale, entertaining and well-appointed package should find the Regal CXL strongly worth considering. (Photo: Buick)

A sporty, turbocharged, manual Buick that handles!? Sounds like an oxymoron—but stuff like this is vital in attracting the twenty-somethings to your showrooms.

Young blood
Ultimately, those prioritizing fuel efficiency over all-out performance and looking for an upscale, entertaining and well-appointed package should find the Regal CXL strongly worth considering. All said, the new Regal’s dynamic demeanour is one of numerous ways Buick is hoping to attract young blood to their brand. The attractive pricing, high-quality cabin and a leading warranty won’t hurt, either.
