Does this make me look fat?
Our test car also includes the 3.6-litre V6 that features 24 valves and direct injection, and that produces 304 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. A 6-speed manual is standard, while a 6-speed automatic with manual mode is available (as with the car we tested). All-wheel drive is optional but only with the automatic. The 3.6 gets rather noisy in wide-open throttle, but otherwise, it’s a good mill.

The CTS sedan’s base, 3.0-litre V6 isn’t offered in the Coupe, but there will be a two-door CTS-V, with its thunderous 556-horsepower, 6.2-litre supercharged V8.

The car’s new posterior is obviously what gets the most attention. The dramatically-angled backlight is almost horizontal, and the trunklid is even higher than in the sedan, which means limited outward visibility. The trunk is fairly spacious but the cutout is narrow because of the short deck.

The CTS Coupe looks like it has a big derrière, though. With the taillights that reach up to the C-pillars, the trunklid that’s almost flush with the bumper and the center twin exhaust outlets, it seems to accentuate the wideness of the rear wheel wells and makes the car look fat. Some like it, some don’t. But that’s the buyer’s call.

Pricing for the base 1SF package begins at $47,450. The better equipped 1SH carries a retail price of $54,535. As for the high-performance CTS-V coupe, no numbers have been yet announced, however we expect them to hover in the mid-$70,000 range.
