Another week, another teaser. Ford has released one more photo of the 2011 Explorer, but of course, you can’t see the complete vehicle yet. For that, we’ll have to wait for July 26th for its unveiling in New York City.
In the meantime, here’s a peek at the Explorer’s headlights, which mimic the wing-shaped clusters on the F-Series pickup. Don’t forget, the new Explorer will shed its body-on-frame chassis, which will transform it from an SUV to a crossover.
The 2011 Explorer will feature a Terrain Management four-wheel drive system with driver-selectable rotary switch similar to Land Rover’s Terrain Response. After all, and looking at the curvy rakes windshield in the Explorer’s peep show, rumour has it that this Ford shared its development with the recently revealed Land Rover Evoque.
Ford is announcing an ‘available’ EcoBoost engine, which means that the 2011 Edge’s turbo inline-4 should be the one they're talking about.
Maybe the peep show will open again before July 26th. Then again, enough with the teasing, we want to that Explorer in its birthday suit.
