Holy...$@@%#@!#$$%%^$!!!!!!!!
Backup
Thanks to the fitted Brembo brake system, the GT500 is good at scrubbing off speed quickly, too. Crushing stopping power and fade-free stops are always at the ready-- though some will wish for better pedal feel.

With the optional ‘Track Pack’, the tester’s steering was sharp and surprisingly quick while conducting a body that stays flat and planted during cornering. Your writer found that the steering can, at times, even feel almost ‘too’ quick for the car. That’s better than feeling too slow, any day of the week, especially when you’ve got the suspension and tires to back it up.

End of the day, the GT500 is suited surprisingly well to day to day use by folks who don’t mind the sound and feel inherent of such a machine-- though the best return on investment will come to owners who hit the track in theirs.

Surprisingly sensible, sort of
Oh, and not that it matters, but your writer was impressed with the GT500’s highway cruising mileage, which dipped as low as 10L / 100km. That’s exceptional for a 550 horsepower machine-- though when cranked upon, the Shelby ‘Stang will turn up to 20 litres of premium gasoline into really cool sound effects every 100 kilometres or so.

The latter is a standard complaint when reporting on a car like this one. Others include a rough and noisy ride on poorly maintained roads, limited rear-seat space and a smaller-than-expected driver’s area relative to the vehicle’s overall size.

None of the complaints are surprising-- but in spite of the shock-and-awe display of American firepower, the hints of refinement and sensibility sure are. Not that anyone particularly sensible is looking for a GT500 anyhow.
