The 2012 Civic Hybrid will get a lithium-ion battery pack instead of nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) and a bump in engine displacement to 1.5 litre. In addition to the extra power, Honda is claiming a fuel economy improvement of about 10% compared to the hybrid model we're testing today.
If they can cure the harshness of the start/stop and brake regeneration systems, and drop the price by a few thousand dollars, the 2012 Civic Hybrid would no longer be the least desirable model of the line-up.
