The QX56 costs $73,000, although the addition of the $8,000 Technology Package brings the total to $81,000. While that may sound expensive, and it is, it’s actually cheaper than similary-equipped rivals such as the Cadillac Escalade ($93,725), the Lexus LX 570 ($100,800), the Mercedes-Benz GL550 ($98,550) and the Range Rover HSE ($107,620). A Lincoln Navigator costs a few grand less but lacks features such as intelligent cruise control.
Spending a week with the QX56 is like hanging out with a Sumo wrestler; he takes up a lot of room, he was a very big appetite, but he can carry that heavy suitcase for you without breaking a sweat.
The Infiniti QX56 was a great companion during my vacation with the family. For the duties that’s asked of a big SUV, like hauling over a half-dozen people and towing a boat, the QX56 shines brightly. Now if only I could find a use for such a big vehicle during the other 51 weeks of the year. This will require some serious head-scratching.
