Kia introduces new Southern-fried Sorento
So in everyday driving, Sorento behaves like you would expect a largish, tallish FWD vehicle to behave — with a fair amount of understeer.

But the steering feels tight and precise, with just the right amount of comforting “on centre” feel. And the chassis is rock solid. Handling dynamics are definitely a strong point of this vehicle.

All trim lines feature six air bags, ABS, ESC, Electronic Brake Distribution, Hill Start Assist Control, and Downhill Brake Control.

Cabin Comforts

The cabin is well done, if a little generic. The wood trim that is there is very black.

The AM/FM/CD/MP3/SIRIUS stereo features auxiliary and USB inputs, and Bluetooth for hands-free cell phone use.

All Canadian models come standard with these all-weather tools: heated seats, air conditioning, windshield wiper de-icer, power heated outside mirrors.

There are only two trim lines, LX and EX. Among other items, EX gets you 18-inch wheels (vs 17-inches), leather seating, dual temp controls, power driver's seat, leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and rear view camera (with a tiny LCD in the rear view mirror).

Notable options on EX are navigation, premium audio, and a large, two-pane sunroof. (No rear-seat DVD.)

The second-row seats recline, but do not slide. My 5-foot 8-inch was comfy back there, although the back of my thighs could not quite rest flat against the seat cushions.

The third row continues to be a place just for kids and adults with high pain thresholds. And with that third row up, your cargo shrinks to briefcase levels. But this third row seat is available if you need it — not many compact CUVs give you the option.

All trim lines feature six air bags, ABS, ESC, Electronic Brake Distribution, Hill Start Assist Control, and Downhill Brake Control (which helps you brake in straight line, when towing a trailer).
