True Blend of Luxury and Economy
For a set of reasons that differ markedly from those that made the Mustang so enjoyable to pilot, I found the MKZ Hybrid to be a remarkably rewarding sedan to drive.

It wasn’t the measly $13.00 in gas that I burned during the week that underpinned my delight, and it certainly wasn’t the lackluster acceleration of the MKZ Hybrid that cemented my contentment. Rather, it was the constellation of all the attributes of this unique vehicle that secured my fondness.

It was tremendously relaxing to drive; and I think that was due largely to its vault-like quiet cabin and smooth ride quality. Simply put, this car insulated me from external irritants while saving me money—and who can complain about that?

Where a complaint may be due is in pricing. The MKZ Hybrid is listed at $42,200, and my loaded tester rang in with an MSRP of $51,505 before destination and delivery charges. That’s a big chunk of change for an entry-level Lincoln, even if it is a heavily contented hybrid unit.

Lincoln’s fuel-stingy Hybrid is definitely a worthy luxury car in spite of its price and relatively low power and performance thresholds. Those factors aside, this car won me over. It will definitely find its niche in the marketplace.

That niche isn’t likely to include buyers with “performance” atop their list of needs. However, if economy and a lighter carbon footprint register as important considerations, the MKZ Hybrid does it best.
