Combine that cushy ride with steering that's not in too much communication with the pavement, and you’re in for a very relaxed experience. It seems the R-Class is meant to keep drivers and their passengers isolated and comfortable, whether for daily shuttling, or runs to Florida and back.

Prices will be announced just before they go on sale. (Photo: Mike Goetz/Auto123.com)

Is it for you?
Is this your kind of Merc, or your kind of people mover? If you need to haul six or seven people on a semi-regular basis and want to do it in style, in a vehicle with premium materials and a premium powerplant, you just might be R-Class clientele. Especially if you want to express your individuality, as the R-Class is, and will continue to be, a specialized player in the SUV/crossover/luxury-minivan genre.

The new 2011 models start arriving on Canadian dealer lots in late August and early September. Prices will be announced just before they go on sale, but they shouldn’t be too far off 2010 prices ($54,700 R350, $56,200 R350 BlueTEC).
