The wait is finally over. General Motors has finally released the pricing of its 2012 Chevrolet Orlando, a seven-seater vehicle that mixes the practicality of a minivan and the style of a crossover.

It will come in three versions, each of them driven by a 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine that’s also found in the Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain. It will however be slightly less powerful than in the two SUVs, producing 174 horsepower. Its fuel consumption is rated at 10.1 L/100km city and 6.7 L/100km highway.

A six-speed manual transmission will be standard on LS ($19,995) and LT ($22,995), while a six-speed automatic will be optional. The LTZ trim ($29,735) includes the automatic as standard equipment.

The cockpit has three rows of “theatre style” seating, allowing occupants to have an optimal view of the road. Cargo space is rated at 1,594 litres, while multiple seat configurations – the second and third rows fold independently or together to make a completely flat load area – will be ideal for inserting large objects in the vehicle.

From a safety point of view, the Orlando includes four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, electronic brake force distribution, electronic stability control and six airbags, to name a few.

The first units will be delivered in dealerships in October 2011.
