Canadians looking to buy a fully electric vehicle now have an alternative to the Nissan LEAF as Mitsubishi recently began taking orders for the 2012 i-MiEV.
Thirty Mitsubishi Certified i-MiEV dealers across the country have gone through a rigorous training and education program in order to be qualified to retail and service the i-MiEV.
This 4-passenger, zero-emission city car offers a range of 155 kilometres and reaches a top speed of 130 km/h. Starting at $32,998, it's also Canada's most affordable mass-produced EV. In addition, provincial subsidies have been announced for customers in Ontario ($8,231), Quebec ($7,769), and British Columbia ($5,000).
Mitsubishi also delivered 10 more units to Hydro-Quebec (bringing its total to 40) as part of the third and final phase of the largest EV trial in Canada.
The project, which will continue until the end of 2013, will provide the Quebec government with new real-world information about EV drivers’ habits and charging needs. In the next year, the first 400-volt quick-charge stations will be set up in the province.
