I could go into a detailed and complex explanation of how the electronically controlled multi-plate clutch controls the force between the front and rear axles, and how it shifts faster than a viscous multi-plate clutch. I could also explain how this system checks rotation speeds, longitudinal acceleration of the vehicle and the steering angle so it can quickly adjust the distribution of the drive force to the front axle.
However, if that overwhelms you, all you need to know is that when you take a corner there is no unpredictability. When you put your foot down to accelerate, the tires are less likely to spin, even on wet or icy roads. The result of having such an advanced clutch control is spectacular driving dynamics in the city, on the highway and even on rain-slicked roads. I personally wouldn’t want to drive this car during the winter, but it feels good to know that I could.
Porsches are some of my favourite cars on the road. No matter what trim or model you see, they have a style inside and out that is all their own and they make heads turn and people stop to ask you questions.
The 911 is a classic. Getting into the Carrera 4 over the rear-wheel drive 911 gives you a feeling of added security on the road. I don’t think there is a real need to step into the 4S for the additional $15,000. The Carrera 4 would satisfy any woman (or man, for that matter) who doesn’t want to settle for just any Porsche.
