There is no mistaking an R for a GTI. The R gets 18” Talladega wheels, unique side skirts, and the luscious looking and sounding dual center mounted tailpipes. If you really want to make your 5-door R special, get it in Rising Blue metallic. This colour is only available on the Golf R in Canada. Otherwise, the other 4 shades, Candy White, Deep Black Pearl, Tornado Red and Carbon Steel Grey Metallic are all offered on other vdubs. I'd be torn between Rising and Candy.
What would also tear away at me is the fact that the car only comes with a sunroof. Meh! Garbage! As such, the only trim is fully decked-out.

The tribe in Ajax got their hands on 500 2012 Volkswagen Golf Rs. As it stands, nearly 80% have been spoken for. At $39,675, it's quite nearly a bargain when you consider the $4,000 premium over a top kitted Volkswagen GTI gets you wheels, bigger brakes, AWD, more power and that sound!
It may not be that this will be last MKVI R. Depending on the coming of the MKVII Golf, there might be a short run of 2013s before the MKVI disappears from assembly lines. Time will tell as the next Golf is scheduled to be introduced at the Paris auto show this year.
Oh, and depending on how well everything goes with the 2012 R, the MKVII, should it come, would be available in a 3-door, with DSG and other goodies that elude us at the moment.
The car officially launches on March 15 and by mid-April, all 135 dealers across Canada should have their limited stock.
