To pick a pickup
Pickups typically have a long shelf life. Mid-cycle refreshes are typically few and far between, and so starting off with a solid foundation is vital for short- to long-term success. Sitting on one's laurels in this game is tantamount to throwing a kitten in a lion's cage and hoping it survives.
Chrysler, GM, and Ford are all over this reality, but none put it into practice better than Ford. We must say though that Chrysler seems to have picked up a few pointers over the last few decades. Sadly, GM appears to have slipped if only a little. As for Toyota and Nissan, our best advice to them would be to snatch an engineer or 50 from the other guys and give them carte blanche for the next Tundra and Titan.
The final real bottom line is that the F-150, Ram 1500 and Sierra/Silverado are all very good, and regardless of where your allegiances lie, you shan't make a mistake.
Notes:
All of the cars in this test scored high safety marks as they are all equipped with stability and traction control as well as at least six air bags.
All prices are MSRP and exclude all others fees associated with the purchase of a new car and were correct at the time the review was written.
