Pros: The Scion iQ is actually larger than it lets on, and the backseat can function as a place for small children (even with a child seat). It is the ideal urbanite, can fit in virtually any parking spot, and if you’re looking for smart fortwo-like characteristics but need a back seat, this is your car.
Cons: The price might seem a little steep for not a lot of vehicle. Plus, there’s only one engine option and one transmission. With cars like the Nissan Micra around, it’s hard to justify paying the price Scion asks for the iQ when you could get more for less elsewhere.
2015 Scion iQ Price and Fuel Economy: As mentioned above, the price of the Scion iQ may seem a little steep for the amount of car you’re paying for. With a base MSRP just over the $17k mark, the 2015 Scion iQ comes well-equipped but is still lacking in interior volume and driveability qualities.
As for fuel economy, the little Scion iQ is mighty in that domain, turning in numbers that actually best the little giant killer, Micra. With a combined rating of 6.4L/100km, the Scion iQ is one of the most fuel efficient gas-powered cars in Canada.
Powertrain: The 2015 Scion iQ is equipped with a 1.3L 4-cylinder mill that pushes out 94 horsepower and 89 lb-ft of torque. Seems small, but this is a small car (only 160.1” long and weighing only 965kg).
Power is sent to the front wheels and controlled via a CVT. Scion did its best to ensure time behind the wheel was as fun as possible, so all four wheels are pushed to the outermost corners of the car for greater agility and handling capabilities.
Changes and Improvements: The 2015 Scion iQ remains identical to the outgoing model.
Cargo Capacity: Here’s where things get … small. The Scion iQ has “space” for four inside, but the backseats are more of a suggestion than a daily-use amenity. A baby seat will fit in the back, but it has to be the right size. And the trunk is functional, but only offers up 168L of space.
Safety: Despite it’s diminutive size, the 2015 Scion iQ is equipped with a plethora of safety features including all manner of airbags, vehicle stability control, ABS, traction control, EBD, brake assist, and Smart Stop Technology.
