In addition to crowning the 2016 Canadian Car of the Year and Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto on February 11th, the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) will reveal the three finalists for the 2016 Canadian Green Car of the Year and Canadian Green Utility Vehicle of the Year awards.
The recipients of these titles will be announced on March 22nd at the Vancouver Auto Show.
All entries are first scored under AJAC's standard Canadian Car of the Year program protocol, which considers subjective and objective data for scoring. They are then further evaluated based on a specific set of "green" criteria in addition to their other scores.
On the car side, possible finalists include the Honda Civic, smart fortwo, Chevy Volt, and Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. Meanwhile, utility vehicles such as the Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-3, Porsche Cayenne S e-Hybrid, Volvo XC90 T8, and GMC Canyon diesel could vie for top honours.
