The all-new 2017 Acura MDX was introduced to the world on Wednesday, March 23rd at the 2016 New York Auto Show. Restyled and refreshed, this luxury crossover will hit dealerships sometime in the summer. A Sport Hybrid Super Handling-All Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) model will even follow later on.

Styling is highlighted by the bold and distinctive new diamond pentagon grille, first seen on the Acura Precision Concept unveiled in January at the NAIAS. Up front, the MDX now sports a more sharply sculpted hood, front fascia and front fenders coupled with new LED fog lights and restyled Jewel Eye headlights. In the rear, a revised bumper, body-coloured skid garnish, and the addition of twin tailpipes further emphasize the performance character of the vehicle.

All 2017 Acura MDX models feature an electronic parking brake, SiriusXM radio, four USB ports, and automatic headlights.

While no information about the base, 290-horsepower MDX was provided, Acura proudly detailed its new MDX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD. Like the NSX supercar and RLX flagship sedan, this one is powered by a 3.0L V6 engine with Variable Cylinder Management mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. An integrated electric motor also powers the front wheels, while a Twin Motor Unit (with two electric motors) drives the rear wheels. Peak powertrain output is 325 horsepower.

Prices and fuel economy numbers will be announced at a later date.
