Consumers will get the chance next spring to discover up close the brand-new 2017 Toyota Prius Prime hybrid, which will include a host of new technologies and advanced safety features. The vehicle is tailor-made for consumers who want to drive “green” but are still nervous about the autonomous range of all-electric cars. On a full charge and with a full tank, the 2017 Prius Prime will be able to travel up to 965 km – for a fuel consumption figure of only 1.96L/100 km.

The car will include as standard features heated seats, a heated steering wheel with Softex leather covering, a touch-sensor lock for the driver’s side door, Toyota’s Smart Key system with Push Button Start and the Toyota Safety Sense P suite of driver-assist technologies that include Pre-Collision Alert, Lane Departure Alert and much more.

As was the case with the 2016 Prius, the 2017 Prius Prime is built on Toyota’s New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform. It also features quad LED headlamps and LED rear combination lamps, both sets of which fit harmoniously into the car’s very modern silhouette.

For the moment, Toyota has not divulged pricing for the different trims (base model and Technology) of the 2017 Prius Prime. More details are expected as launch date approaches.
