Toyota put together a short list of targeted improvements for 2027 GR86. That list includes revised throttle response and shifter feel, a new exterior colour and enhancement of some safety features.
The 2027 Toyota GR86 is now offered in Canada with a base MSRP (manufacturer's suggested retail price) of $33,400. As such, the GR86 remains one of the few relatively affordable small sports coupes on the market.

2027 Toyota GR86: What’s new?
The changes brought to the GR86 for 2027 fall into the category of minor, to be sure. But in bid to grab the attention of those most likely to buy it, Toyota says it used the results of track testing conducted by its GAZOO Racing team to fine-tune certain driving dynamics.
In particular, engineers revised the relationship between accelerator input and torque delivery to achieve a more progressive and linear response.
The 6-speed manual transmission has also been lightly modified. The chamfer on the interlocking mechanism between fourth and fifth gear has been widened by roughly 0.5 mm. That’s not exactly earth-shattering as a change, however, according to Toyota, this change does make gear shifts feel more natural, especially during “spirited” driving.

The mechanical layout remains unchanged, the GR86 retaining its naturally aspirated 2.4L flat-4 engine producing 228 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. Those not wanting the 6-speed manual can opt for a 6-speed automatic transmission, depending on the trim.
The coupe also keeps its rear-wheel-drive setup and Torsen limited-slip rear differential.
New outside colour, red cabin inside
For 2027, Toyota is also adding the Thunder exterior colour to the GR86 palette. Translated, that’s a grey shade, and it’s offered on Premium trims, which can also be fitted with a new red interior. That option combines black Ultrasuede with red leather accents, along with red carpets and door trim. An all-black interior remains available.

Finally, a few changes affect the driver-assistance systems. Toyota notes that it has nearly doubled the detection range of the stereoscopic camera to improve lead-vehicle tracking when using cruise control.
An additional monocular camera also makes its debut to better detect certain objects near the vehicle, particularly at intersections.
