For Dynamotive and its partners, these two facilities will require a $20 million investment, namely $18.5 million for the plant and $1.5 million for the lab. The companies involved in this project expect the plant to be profitable within the next five years.

With this investment, Vancouver-based Dynamotive will be able to maintain a competitive position in the biofuel market. Other investors are expected to follow in the near future.

Dynamotive has offices in the United States, Great Britain and Argentina. It uses fast pyrolysis technologies at mid temperatures in low-oxygen, high-carbon dioxide greenhouses to convert cellulosic biomass (plants, organic residues, etc.) into biooil that will later be transformed into biofuel for automobiles. It has already been proven that biofuel can successfully replace diesel in stationary engines revving at low and average speeds.
