There’s no doubt about it, Chrysler LLC has some grand plans for the future and doesn’t intend to rest on its laurels in the upcoming years. After announcing the return of the Jeep Grand Wagoneer, the end of either the Dodge Grand Caravan or the Chrysler Town & Country, the introduction of a nine-speed transmission and the possible replacement of the Dodge Nitro and Jeep Liberty, Sergio Marchionne is back with another statement.

Chrysler’s president and CEO has now declared that a hybrid version of the Chrysler 300 will be launched in 2013. Like most hybrids, it will be powered by a conventional gas engine complimented by an electric mill. The eco-friendly 300 will reportedly be equipped with an eight-speed transmission created by the ZF Group.

The Pentastar V6, newly introduced on the 2011 Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge models, will motivate the new hybrid as well as similar machines to be developed in the future.

This won’t be the first time the automaker attempts to introduce such a technology. In 2009 the Aspen Hybrid was the group’s first hybrid offering. A financial debacle then forced the automaker to file for bankruptcy, nipping development of other such models in the bud.
