For many, buying a pickup truck means sacrificing fuel efficiency. Chrysler is well aware of this and has decided to change our perception of these vehicles by developing a plug-in RAM powered by a 100% Canadian technology.
The automaker selected Ontarian-based Electrovaya, whose products are characterized by their environmentally friendly manufacturing, as the supplier of the battery solution for the pickup’s electric engine.
The RAM’s gasoline engine teams up with an electric motor powered by Electrovaya’s 12-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, allowing the truck to travel up to 32 km on electricity alone.
The RAM is currently on display at the Washington Auto Show from January 27 to February 6, 2011, and the first deliveries are slated for the summer.
