In the third day of Formula 1 testing in Valencia, Spain McLaren new recruit Heikki Kovalainen set the best time of the day, beating his famous teammate Lewis Hamilton who ranked fourth.
Kovalainen was followed by the Ferrari duo of Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen.
Rookie Kazuki Nakajima did a fine job at the wheel of the interim Williams, finishing the day ahead of two-time World Champion Fernando Alonso aboard the new Renault. His teammate Nico Rosberg was 7th at the wheel of the new, Toyota-powered FW30.
The new Red Bull was struck by several mechanical woes that shortcut its test mileage.
The Toyotas and the BMW Saubers were - again - surprisingly slow.
Rubens Barrichello gave the new Honda RA108 its first outing on a test track. The Brazilian completed 31 laps but was unable to challenge the new cars ahead of him.
