For weeks action sports star, Travis Pastrana, has been talking about the risks to his career about running in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. Thursday night a risk in the X-Games, where he is a multiple champion, took him out of all of it.

The X Games and Rally champion broke his right foot and ankle attempting a trick in the first round and was taken to a hospital in the Los Angeles area.

After attempting a triple roll he crashed and was removed from the Games on a stretcher and taken to a nearby hospital.

"I am sorry this happened and will be back in action as soon as I can. I look forward to Pastranathon 2012 at X Games 18," Pastrana told ESPN following his release from the hospital.

Going into this weekend Pastrana had planned to compete in a few events at the Games on Thursday and Friday, and then fly almost across the United States to Indianapolis to make his NASCAR Nationwide debut Saturday at Lucas Oil Raceway, and then fly back to Los Angeles to compete in a final event at the Games. This plan was called the Pastranathon and it will have to wait until next year if he decides to try it again.

Pastrana Waltrip Racing announced Friday it will withdraw the No. 99 Boost Mobile Toyota from Saturday night’s race.

“Like fans everywhere we were so excited about Travis’ debut Saturday night,” said team owner Michael Waltrip.

“We have a long term vision with Travis which includes lots of NASCAR. We can’t wait to get him healed and in our race cars. We talked to our sponsor Boost Mobile and agreed to withdraw from Indy and delay our debut. We’ve waited a long time for someone like Travis Pastrana. I guess we’ll just have to wait a little bit longer.”
