Kingston, Ontario – Toyota Canada will reveal today the pricing of the 2010 Toyota Prius. This announcement will coincide with the deliveries of the first units to select Canadian buyers across the country.

The 2010 Prius model prices are:
-2010 Toyota Prius base model: $27,500;
-2010 Toyota Prius with Premium Group: $29,610;
-2010 Toyota Prius with Premium Group and solar panels: $31,110;
-2010 Toyota Prius with Touring Group: $31,345;
-2010 Toyota Prius with Technology Group: $36,565.

This is an aggressive pricing strategy since the 2010 Prius base model is offered for $210 less than its 2009 model-year counterpart, and yet the new Prius is more technologically advanced, boasts a lower average fuel consumption (3.8 liters/100 km compared to 4.1 according to the manufacturer) and has a more powerful hybrid engine (134 hp compared to 110).

This base price also sets the Prius in-between its two main rivals: the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid (starting at $31,999, 156 hp and 5.0 liters/100 km) and the 2010 Honda Insight (starting at $23,900, 98 hp and 4.6 liters/100 km).
