Klaus Graf and Greg Pickett took victory with their Porsche RS Spyder after a dramatic finish at Lime Rock and a contact with Brabham and Pagenaud’s HPD car in the final laps.
The Porsche driven by Graf was leading the race but was under heavy pressure from Brabham’s HPD, which started from pole position. Both cars had a coming together while trying to overtake a backmarker, 10 minutes to the end. Graf had a stop and go penalty for causing the incident, but he was able to keep the lead as Brabham suffered a puncture after the incident, and had to stop to change tires.
Brabham and Pagenaud took 2nd place, and remain championship leader. The Porsche RS Spyder and the HPD were the only LMP cars still in contention after teams Drayon and Dyson’s Lolas issues. Formula Le Mans ORECA car driven by Jeannette and Julian took 3rd position.
GT victory went to Long and Bergmeister’s Porsche, who took championship lead from Melo and Bruni (Ferrari), who were forced to retire after their car has been pushed into the tires by Johnny O’Connel’s Corvette.
GTC category was won by Pappas and Bleekemolen’s Porsche.
