Second Saturday at 0.6 seconds from winners Gil de Ferran and Simon Pagenaud and equalizing a victory records (8) in 2009, team Fernandez Racing will be forced to close its doors due to insufficient funding for 2010.

What was announce as a possibility a month ago was confirmed Saturday as no other deals were signed between then and now. This means the team will officially be shut down.

Andrian Fernandez was “extremely proud of everything the team had achieved since its formation in 2001.” Sadly, Saturday’s race marks the end of the adventure.

“I am very proud of them. They gave me the nine best years of my career. We won in every single series we competed. We had a fantastic sponsor in Lowe's and the support of Acura and Michelin. It has just been a great ride,” said Fernandez to autosport.

Tom Anderson and Fernandez created the team in Champ Car in 2001 later moving to IRL in collaboration with Aguri Suzuki and independently in 2004. The lack of sponsorship forced the team to move to ALMS at the end of 2006. It now cost them their team.
