The state of the art track that should be completed in time for 2012 United States Grand Prix, held in November, will host, in the spring after, an ALMS race.

According to both parties, the partnership is a match made in heaven, since they each pursue the same goal of making racing more green.

"The American Le Mans Series is the model for sustainability in the motorsports industry," said Edgar Ferrara, sustainability director for the Circuit. "The Series’ commitment to environmental stewardship matches our own."

The track is located about 24 km from Austin, the capital of Texas. It features 20 turns, a 133-foot elevation change and some $400 million facility that will accommodate 120,000 fans.

"The opportunity to partner with the Circuit of The Americas and bring North America’s premier sports car racing series to fans across Texas, at what is going to be one of the finest road-racing facilities in the world, is a natural fit for all involved," ALMS President and CEO Scott Atherton said.
