The economy has been struggling since two years, forcing various teams and motorists to leave the industry. Not all teams are ready to give up however. Team Falken Tire is one of the American Le Mans Series' team that not only stays in the sport, but increases its commitment.

The team acquired a brand-new Porsche 911 GT3 RSR according to driver Bryan Sellers. The Japan-based tire manufacturer will also increase its technical support.

Sellers and co-driver Dominic Cicero were driving a 2007-spec Porsche this season, which they drove to a season-high eighth place in GT2 class in Laguna Seca last month.

“This year we tested the waters and saw how deep they were,” Sellers told Radio Le Mans. “Next year, we can only hope to come in and nip at the heels of those people and make continual improvements. With new teams, you have to develop a personality, and that’s starting to happen. I’d like to say we can reach podiums and top-fives [next year].

“But if we’re not going to every race trying to win, then we’re absolutely going for the wrong reason,” Sellers added. “Our tire development is never going to be where it should be if we go there to finish third, fourth or fifth. You have to under-promise and over-deliver. That’s kind of where we are at right now.”

At least twelve teams are expected to race in the GT category next season.
