Mat Mladin (Suzuki) earned his 10th AMA Superbike victory of the 2009 season in Sunday's race presented as part of the U.S. Grand Prix, presented at Laguna Seca.

Mladin blew his start from pole position and dropped to 6th on the opening lap before beginning his march back to the front, which brought him back up to second place after six laps, behind his rookie team mate Blake Young. Mladin moved into the lead in Turn 11 on lap eleven, and went on to lead the rest of the way.

Mladin won the race by 1.6 seconds ahead of Young, and 4.6 seconds in front of Aaron Yates (Suzuki).

Mladin now leads the American Superbike championship standings by 127 points over teammate Tommy Hayden, with 12 of 20 races now in the books.

Next up for AMA Pro American Superbike is a doubleheader at Mid-Ohio, on July 17 to 19.
