Rockstar Makita Yoshimura Suzuki's Mat Mladin took his fifth and sixth straight AMA Superbike victories at the VIRginia International Raceway and he stands as a firm favorite to break Ben Spies' consecutive wins record of seven set earlier this year.
While Mladin won with a time advantage of more than 1.5 seconds in the first race, the gap increased in the second race to more than 9.747 seconds over second place finisher; his teammate Ben Spies.
Despite Mladin's incredible success of late, Spies is still in control of the title race - and he will remain so as long as he continues to finish in the top two - as he carries a 541-523 advantage into Road Atlanta, which will take place on August 29-31.
