Ryan Villopoto (Kawasaki) showed his clear dominance as he earned his seventh victory of the 2010 AMA Supercross season, in front of nearly 45,000 fans at Houston’s Reliant Stadium, while injured Chad Reed made a successful return with 4th place.

It wasn’t even a close race as Villopoto finished more than seven seconds ahead of second place Kevin Windham (Honda), followed six seconds back by Ivan Tedesco (Yamaha).

Returnee Chad Reed (Kawasaki) finished fourth and did a favour to his team mate Villopoto by stealing extra points from series leader Ryan Dungey (Suzuki) who finished fifth.

In the final, Villopoto shot out of the gate like his life depended on it and never looked back. Windham simply couldn’t keep up with Villopoto’s pace while Ivan Tedesco, who had not seen the podium since his third-place finish in San Diego on Feb 6, had his hands full with Josh Hill and Dungey early on, before both fell by the wayside as the race progressed.

The return of Reed and Andrew Short off the disabled list went well for both riders. Reed battled through the pack after an 11th-place start to finish fourth while Red Bull Honda’s Short started the main and worked his way up to eighth.

With this victory, Villopoto gained nine points in the standings and is now 12 points behind Dungey heading to the next race, presented in St-Louis April 17th.
