Ford Escape
Ford’s redesigned Escape is recognized for the great visuals of its multimedia system, the Wards judges pointing to the excellent backup camera image, gauge readings and navigation maps as all earning a thumbs-up; also complemented were the lack of glare and rich detailing . Said panel member Christie Schweinsberg of the Escape PHEV version, “The digital cluster and the touchscreen both have incredible resolution and clarity.”
Other qualities that helps the new Escape’s cause included the ease of phone pairing and the new and improved Sync 3 infotainment system fitted with everything from Android Auto to Apple CarPlay to Alexa to Waze.
The 2020 Escape also inherits a new Bang & Olufsen audio system (575 watts, 10 speakers, subwoofers included) that apparently knocked Wards jury members’ socks off. The model features Ford’s CoPilot360 system and voice-activated navigation (the voice command system was found to be reliable and quick to respond).
Overall, Wards really liked the amount of drive-assist technology included for the Escape’s reasonable price point.
UX in the 2020 Escape isn’t hurt either by the presence (as an option) of the front-to-back panoramic sunroof.
