Say what you want about Tesla’s leadership, it’s hard to argue with the facts and those state that the Tesla Model Y was the bestselling vehicle in the world for a spell. That’s a pretty impressive feat rarely seen from companies as young as Tesla (and yes, in the grand scheme of things, it’s still fairly young).
2024 has Tesla’s lineup unchanged with the same four models many know and love, plus one that many at least say they love: the Model 3, Model Y, Model S with its manic Plaid variant sand Model X with its “Falconwing” upward-swinging doors. Oh and there’s the Cybertruck with its…well, where do we start, really? The fact that Elon’s son (allegedly) helped design it? That it’s only “sort of” a pickup? That it can be had in any colour, so long as it’s stainless steel?

Toyota
Like its Lexus luxury division, Toyota has hybrids for all. But full EVs? Not so much. Your one and only choice is the awkwardly named bZ4X, a compact crossover of sorts that looks distinctively different from any other Toyota out there.
Whether you like the bZ-something’s standard two-tone colour treatment and broad fascia is for you to decide, but the facts are thus: it comes available in either single-motor 2WD or dual-motor AWD configurations, has seating for five and makes up to 214 hp.
