If pickup users accept the transition to electric mobility and start buying EVs in large numbers, you can be sure that other players will join the contest. Remember, we're already talking about the most lucrative segment in the industry, so imagine if electrification is added to the mix. Given that the costs associated with producing all-electric vehicles are expected to plummet in the next few years, other automakers and startups will find it mighty tempting to take the leap.

Some of those go by the names Nissan, Ram and Toyota; others don’t even exist yet, or are just now plotting their attack on the electric-pickup domain. Just this week, Fisker published a first teaser image of an all-electric pickup truck it’s working on. It won’t be the last to do so.
