Porsche 718 Boxster / Cayman
Porsche 718’s charm offensive starts with the zippy speed it offers, something the model and the brand have honed over several generations of the model. That alone explains, in part, why the 718 has now made 23 appearances on C&D’s annual list of excellence (out of 25 years on the American market).
Of note, some variants of the 718 are priced too high to make it below the magazine’s $90,000 cut-off point, so it’s the Boxster model’s base 4-cylinder T variant and S version that are specifically recognized, along with the Cayman T and S, plus the Cayman GTS 4.0 6-cylinder model.
What C&D liked:
- Speed
- But it’s more than that, as the 718 models are road-huggers par excellence that deliver excellent steering feedback and awesome cornering
- Worth the cost
- Skip the expensive options and you’ll still enjoy a remarkable car
“More than most anything else on four wheels, the 718s will make you feel better about how well you're driving. Any car that can do that is definitely a hero.”
- Car and Driver
