Best compact SUV: Volkswagen Tiguan
The German automaker’s compact SUV gets a mid-cycle redesign in 2022, one that has frankly done the model a lot of good. Now more attractive on the outside, the new Tiguan is also more fun to drive thanks to some tweaks under the hood. Sure, the Tiguan doesn't offer the choice you get from the RAV4 or the Korean models when it comes to engines and such, but the SUV is now more on a par with the standard-bearers of the category.
Honorable mention goes to the Toyota RAV4 and the Nissan Rogue/Mitsubishi Outlander tandem, both of which were renewed last year.
