Best compact SUV: Mazda CX-5
The Mazda CX-5 is one of the best-engineered compact SUVs, with all-wheel drive included in the base model. Yes, it's true that it loses points for interior volume, but other than that, the CX-5, despite the current generation getting a little long in the tooth design-wise, is still one of the best choices in a very, very crowded and popular segment.
In recent years the brand has shown willingness to raise its level of quality and even aim for the luxury brands. Mazda wants, in other words, to get away from its mass-market-brand image.
Over the past few years, the brand's design work has been increasingly applauded – both in terms of the exteriors and the interiors of its vehicles. The CX-5, the manufacturer's best-selling vehicle, is also arguably its most accomplished piece of design.
And the quality is also seen in the driving experience, which the CX-5 excels in. In short, it will be interesting to see what fate Mazda has in store for its popular compact SUV, because at the time of writing, the CX-5 offers the best bang for buck among compact SUVs.
