The return of the Cherokee in 2014, was a bet that paid off handsomely for Jeep, but the company has failed to give it a proper renewal since then, spoiling the fun somewhat. Sales have been dropping pretty calamitously, 41.7% since the start of the year to be precise. That’s pretty drastic (sales are 8,427 units compared to 14,430 units over the same period last year).

Thing is, given the precarious financial situation at FCA, there is no big overhaul on the schedule for the Cherokee that we know of, while the company focuses on a next generation of big brother the Grand Cherokee. We suggest you look elsewhere in the category.

From our review:

“Speaking of on-road versus off-road: the Cherokee’s ride really does have to be felt to be believed. It’s just so confident and predictable, but at the same time insulating and smooth overall. You’d never know that you’re in a vehicle that has roots in the world of off-roading, but there you have it.”
