VW did not follow the Polestar strategy - the first VW ID model for sale in North America was, in fact, a crossover. Now, it’s time for an all-electric VW sedan. Enter the ID.7.

Looking like a cross between the Arteon and Passat in terms of profile, the ID.7 is a sleek machine with a slightly higher roofline at the back and a hatchback design. The slippery shape helps achieve around 480 km of range, while the single—motor RWD powertrain we get at the outset will be joined by a dual-motor version later on.

Power from the single-motor is rated at 282 hp and 402 lb-ft.

When is the Volkswagen ID.7 coming?

Those waiting impatiently for the ID.7 will have to arm themselves with some more patience. Volkswagen recently announced it has pushed back launch of the all-electric sedan by a year. We’re now looking at 2026, if not later. Stay tuned.
