If you think it would be hard finding a part for a 2000 Buick Lesabre, for example, imagine how hard it would be to replace something that breaks on a 1949 Buick Super "Woody" Wagon.
However, so far that is not something that Pat and Mary Brooks of Marshalltown, Iowa, have had to do. There have been a few maintenance issues to deal with, says Pat Brooks, "but we'vekept it running."
On balance, she says, "Things have been going reasonably well. We've been driving 12 to 14-hours a day and it's been pretty rugged -- a lot of mountains and hills. Several cars are out with mechanical problems or extensive damage from collisions or leaving the road."
