Audi is set to introduce its global positioning statement to Canada amidst their new R8-centered brand campaign. The German automaker will describe its company and products with the phrase "Vorsprung durch Technik".
That's pronounced forsprung durk teknik, if you don't speak German.
Audi's signature in most places around the globe, it's a phrase that translates literally as 'advancement through technology'. Our language, however, fails to capture the full meaning of the word Vorsprung, which also means to 'leap ahead'.
Audi says "Vorsprung durch Technik" captures their ambitions in the development of new vehicles and technology, and the way that they challenge existing concepts and adopt innovative approaches in their lineup of cars and SUV's.
Starting this week, the signature phrase will appear in all Audi Canada advertising, which will feature the R8 sports car.
"Vorsprung durch Technik is the heart of the Audi brand, the philosophy that guides all of our activities," explained Audi Canada's Director of Communications, Marketing and Public Relations, Douglas Clark. "Vorsprung durch Technik encapsulates the Audi philosophy representing not only progressive technology and advanced design but also for our methodology in delivering product leadership and servicing our customers."
