According to Audi, these devices vary the ride height at every wheel to "ensure optimum aerodynamics when driving at high speeds and ample ground clearance away from firm surfaces."As road speed increases, the system lowers the body in four stages between 208 and 142 mm or ground clearance. The driver can also select the various ride heights by pushing a button, which could be useful on the irregular off-road surfaces.
The style of Allroad takes a lot from the A6 Avant which is its base, but Audi has taken some trouble to give it a unique shape that "communicates its highly functional character.
"An undertray made of ribbed stainless steel, boldly shaped bumpers and flared wheel arches are immediate clues to the Allroad quattro's off-road talents," Audi believes. "This bold appearance is emphasized still more by a roof painted in a contrasting color and with longitudinal ribs."Last but not least, there are a pair of alloy wheels to strike the tone for the Allroad -- a 17-inch, 5-arm design, and a 17-inch, 5-arm, double-spoke design.
