In Abu Dhabi and Dubai, two major Middle Eastern metropolises, authorities made a direct link between Reserach in Motion’s foibles and the death toll on the roads, which decreased significantly during the three days without service.
Stats show that accidents dropped by 20 % in Dubai, and no deaths were reported over those three days. Meanwhile in Abu Dhabi, there were 40 % less road accidents compared to previous years.
This will no doubt provide extra ammunition for legislators looking to institute drastic measures to fight cell phone usage behind the wheel.
