Look for the convertible model of the new 3-series line to hit BMW dealers across Canada this winter.
The first iteration of the third droptop model to bear the 3-series brand will be the 323Ci, featuring a 2.5-litre, inline-6 engine developing 170 horsepower. "Further engine variants will follow later in the year," promises Tobias Nickel of BMW Canada.
This line of 3-series debuted in the summer of 1998 with the sedan model and continued earlier this year with a coupe version. The new convertible most resembles the coupe, Nickel says, since they are identical from the front bumper to the windshield.
However, Nickel says, "the convertible features an even more striking waistline, a more muscular rear end, and a very elegant softtop that truly provides this vehicle with its own personal character."
This uniquness continues inside, Nickel notes, with new front seats with seatbelts built into them. These so-called "integrated" seatbelts, Nickel says, "ensure optimum seatbelt positioning at all times."
Rollbars are standard on the new softtop and are built into the rear seat head restraints, popping up only when required.
