BMW Classic is now offering classic BMW automobiles for sale, the automaker announced today in a press release. A BMW M1 and a BMW 3.0 CSL will be sold by Bonhams auction house in Dubai this October.
Since the early 1990s, both of these cars have been owned by BMW Classic. Incidentally, it will be the first time any model from the company’s own collection has been put up for sale.
The decision stems from a new business strategy developed by BMW Classic, which caters to the needs of car collectors and other vintage BMW owners.
"Buying and selling classics is as much a part of our new range of services as the consignment of classics and advice on buying," says Karl Baumer, Director of BMW Classic. "The auction of these two automobiles is our first move in that direction."
Why Dubai? The company is hoping to consolidate its presence in the Middle East, a region with significant sales potential specifically on the classic car front.
