BMW’s M performance division wants to produce its very own version of the Z4 roadster, emulating Mercedes-Benz' AMG, which is fully responsible for the SLS supercar.
M product development chief Albert Biermann said: ''From an engineering perspective, we have the skills and we’d love to do it. We’ve discussed it several times but we’ve never been able to make the business case.''
''There are days when it hurts not to have [such a car in the BMW lineup],'' he added.
However, Biermann defended BMW by explaining that there was no [profitable] business case at the time when the decision was taken.
